Children under the age of 18 may qualify for NHS treatment. Your dentist will refer you to us.
Adults and those children who do not qualify for NHS treatment can self-refer for treatment and come to the practice directly. If you have any questions about self-referral please contact us and we can walk you through the process.
There are a number of reasons you may need or want orthodontic treatment.
If you are considering private treatment at Cygnet Orthodontics but are not sure of all the options available to you, you may benefit from coming into the practice for a consultation appointment before starting treatment. At this appointment, our Treatment Coordinators will discuss the various treatments that would be suitable for you and provide you with an indication of the costs.
If you are referred to us as an NHS patient, you will be assessed at your first appointment to ensure you qualify for NHS funding. We will explain this to you in detail at the appointment.
After the initial consultation, NHS patients are placed on a waiting list. We see patients in the order in which they are referred and subject to any other dental treatment they may need prior to having a brace fitted.
If your child does not qualify for treatment on the NHS, you could consider opting for private treatment. We offer some reduced rates for children under 18 who cannot access NHS funding.
If you have had a free consultation, or do not want a free consultation because you are committed to starting treatment, you will come into the practice for a comprehensive clinical assessment. At this appointment, we will take scans and photographs. Our Orthodontists will then determine your orthodontic needs and agree a bespoke treatment plan with you. You will also be able to discuss your goals and any questions or concerns you may have.
Payment for your treatment can be made with a 20% deposit, payable at the start of treatment, with the remaining balance paid by interest-free monthly standing orders over your treatment time. Alternatively, the full fee can be paid up front
NHS patients will be invited to come in for a review and/or fitting appointment when they have reached the top of the waiting list.
Private patients may book an appointment when they are ready to proceed with treatment and depending on the type of treatment you have chosen, you may begin straightaway. You will come to the practice for regular appointments during your treatment so we can check on the progress and ensure everything is going to plan.
We offer lots of helpful tips and advice that you may find useful during your orthodontic treatment. Also, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
